Painting a picture

For this brief, I was tasked with creating a logo for Jessica Fields, also known as Field Art, an amazing landscape and still life painter based in Greenville, SC. The goal here was to create a combination of text and illustration that would convey a lightness - an anchor to nature and an organic, chunky vibe; similar to her bright, thick, and angular work that focuses on airy landscapes and comforting still life compositions. For such a unique and physical style, I really needed the type to capture that essence, and I really wanted to bring in a physical object that she often nods to in her posts - the palette knife! The final result is a very tactile and bold logo that fans said suits the painter perfectly.
