About

Howdy! My name is Giovanna, also known as Kindred Spirits, and I’m a Mexican-American graphic designer based in Houston. Before studying graphic design in 2018 at Shillington in New York, I studied Cognitive Science (with a concentration in Neuroscience) at University of Pennsylvania and worked in community relations at a charter school in Brooklyn.

After working at an agency in Manhattan, I came back home to Houston and started Kindred Spirits Design Co. in order to work on branding projects with small businesses and entrepreneurs.

My clients like that I'm communicative, responsive, and professional! When I’m not designing, you can probably find me antiquing, gardening, or trying to pull the perfect shot of espresso.

My resume can be viewed here – please download for optimal viewing experience! :-)

One of my past projects has won two awards!

The Summer 2024 Direct Mailer from the Rice University Office of Admission won gold in the direct mail category from the Educational Advertising Awards, and a certificate of excellence from the American Advertising Federation, Houston.

Check out the case study by the production partner, Whitestone Branding, here.

I was on a podcast! Check out my September 2024 episode of Designers on Film with Jason Tselentis on Get Out (2017) here.
