A salute to waukegan

For this awesome project, I was asked to create a custom beer bottle label that captured the hardworking, industrial spirit of Waukegan, Illinois for Viking Brewery, a Brooklyn-based microbrewery whose founder felt the parallels between Brooklyn and Waukegan as soon as he moved to good old Kings County.

For their inaugural brew, Dave wanted to tell the visual story of his mom coming home from a hard day’s work every night with a burger for Viking, the family dog. With a lively mix of illustration, strong typography, and really physical textural elements to convey the spunk and grit of WK and BK alike, it was a joy to bring this tasty grapefruit honey ale’s aesthetic to life.
